Buccal Fat Removal

How Does Buccal Fat Removal Work?

A type of plastic surgery is removing fat from the buccal area. It is also known as "cheek reduction surgery," and it is used to change the shape and contour of your face. It can be done in conjunction with other procedures that are similar to it, like a facelift or liposuction.

How Does It Work?

Your surgeon will use a local anesthetic, similar to what you get at the dentist's office, to prepare you for this surgery. After carefully removing your buccal fat pads through a small incision near your upper molars on the inside of your cheek, the surgeon will send you home with mouthwash and antibiotics to prevent oral infections and instructions on how to care for your face while recovering.

How will you come back?

You may experience swelling and facial discoloration following surgery. These are normal and will go away in about two to three weeks.

You may not see the actual results of the surgery for a few months, but over time, you will notice that your cheeks have become more slender and well-defined.
