FUE: WHAT IS IT?
In a follicular unit hair transplant procedure, a technique known as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is used to extract donor hair. A small, circular incision is made in the skin around a follicular unit during FUE hair transplant surgery to separate it from the surrounding tissue.
WHAT WORKS WITH FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT?
One of the most recent developments in the field of hair transplantation is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The way the donor area is harvested in FUE surgery is different from strip surgery. The FUE procedure is an option for patients who would like to avoid the donor scar from strip surgery.
The procedure for extracting follicular units is actually fairly straightforward. From the back of your head, a guided extractor makes tiny incisions (less than one millimeter) around individual follicular units. The units are removed with suction, which improves transplanted graft survival and reduces handling, and then placed in prepared areas on your scalp's front.
CAN I AFFORD FUE?
Although Dr. Nadeem's FUE system is a novel and exciting method for treating hair loss, not everyone might benefit from it. Based on your type of hair loss and other factors, a preliminary evaluation will be required to determine if this is the right treatment for you. While follicular unit extraction is an excellent procedure, not all patients are suitable candidates. The advantages and disadvantages of this type of surgery versus strip surgery are discussed in depth during the consultation.
The FUE method, on the other hand, is the best option for the vast majority of patients we treat with hair loss. It has many advantages over the previous method of strip harvesting, including:
Faster recovery time and fewer restrictions on post-treatment activities; no linear scarring; no need for stitches; higher graft survival rate compared to manual FUE extraction; maximizes donor hair for harvesting; no cut, no pain, and no scar.
